Ed and Beth opened their first Mr. Appliance location in 2014, and since have expanded to four locations: Howard County, Carroll County, Frederick County, and Montgomery County, MD. They have been recognized by corporate Mr. Appliance as receiving an impressive Top Gun award and the winners of the prestigious Excellence in Leadership award for their efforts to collaborate with fellow businesses, and share best practices. The Top Gun award is awarded to the franchisees that have finished in the top 10% of over 250 Mr. Appliance franchises throughout the United States and Canada in areas of superior business performance and customer service. Ed and Beth give much credit of this achievement to their entire team. They attribute this recognition to great values, outstanding teamwork, excellent attitude, professional approach and the desire to achieve the mission of “Creating Encore Experiences That Customers Can’t Wait to Share With Others.” With a dedicated team of 14 service professionals and office staff, Mr. Appliance offers appliance repair services across central Maryland. Mr. Appliance prides itself on professional and efficient service, with same-day and next-day appointments available for all major household appliances. Mr. Appliance is grateful to have serviced the community as an essential employer during the pandemic, and they continue to strive to provide exceptional service every day.

The Excellence in Leadership award is given to the owners of one Mr. Appliance franchise annually, as determined by the leadership they provide. This award is sometimes referred to as the Leadership Eagle and is given to the franchise owner who consistently sets an example for others within the system by conveying vision, participation, and a positive contribution to the network. Opening in April 2015, and upon returning home following Initial Training, Ed and Beth immediately organized all of the members of the class into a support group as they all worked toward opening their Mr. Appliance franchises. They hosted a well-organized all day peer meeting at their office which was very beneficial to all local franchise owners that were able to attend. They keep in very close contact with their neighboring Mr. Appliance owners in an effort to share best practices that result in the very best customer service. Michael Noe from Mr. Appliance Corporate Headquarters commented “with his background flying F-14 Tomcats for the Navy, and hers with a BA in English from UMBC and having run her own business for several years it’s no surprise that they keep aggressive goals and yet consistently meet them.
